A.I. and Immersive Tech: Reshaping the Future of Learning

As learning practitioners many of us have been reading about how learning itself is changing due to technology and A.I. From elearning modules to online classes or online certifications programs, the way we learn and the way we share our knowledge, both have changed

In a scenario like that, what exactly are some ways in which how learning will take place in the coming years has changed? Here is what will happen.

11.      Blended learning is the way forward – People consume data and knowledge in every form. So if you want to create a learning method, it should ensure that all the forms are blended seamlessly. Online courses, virtual classrooms, physical classrooms, peer-to-peer learning through discussion communities, open sources on various platforms are needed together. The extent of each will be determined by what is being taught. But incorporating a range of methods is what we need to remember.

22.      Situational and experiential learning is important – We learn the most when we actually experience something or are placed in a specific situation. That exposes us to the challenges that can arise, so that we can apply our thought process and come up with solutions or take decisions as needed. So learning has become about the experience itself. Immersive technology can help you create such experiences and simulated situations, which a person can then learn from.

33.      Social and mobile based learning  -  Learning on the go is the new mantra ! The workforce today is keen to multi-task,  and not spend time inside classrooms. They learn through mobile apps, the gamified courses, social media platforms and exchanges. The learning should come to the learner, not the other way around as was the case earlier. So AI is helping us define and create such platforms or tools which can help share knowledge wherever the individual is.

44.       Learning many skills – A large number of the people want to know and learn many skills. Some might continue to focus on being experts, but many more are now not afraid to shift out of their comfort zones or prior expertise areas, in order to learn something new and exciting. That brings a unique challenge of trying to provide a more individualized kind of learning program or course. The need of the hour here, then, is using technology to make it specific and customized.

There are many new trends that are entering the learning space. As more and more research happens, and newer technology comes in, we will see this entire space getting recreated in a big way.
